When The Luxury Home Show reached out to Urbanology Designs, we were both honored and thrilled to have our Modern Hacienda project in Georgetown, Texas, featured in their prestigious Interior Design Series. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Cimarron Hills, the Modern Hacienda’s bar/lounge area embodies Texas sophistication with a refined, modern twist. From the outset, The Luxury Home Show team was captivated by the unique character of this space. They told us they were drawn to the way we seamlessly combined bold Southwestern elements with contemporary elegance, creating a room that feels both grounded in local culture and universally inspiring.

The Design Details That Stole the Spotlight

The bar/lounge area, the crown jewel of this project, is a true reflection of our homeowners’ Texan roots and their love for global treasures. Every element contributes to the story:

Plaster Walls with Personality: The dark gray-black plaster walls shift with the light throughout the day, creating a dynamic interplay of shadows and highlights.

Gothic Arch & Brass Backsplash: A Gothic arch framing the aged, patinated brass backsplash adds drama, historical gravitas, and a polished edge to the room.
Custom Craftsmanship: Beneath the backsplash, custom millwork cabinetry pairs with an Avocatus quartzite countertop, showcasing a refined yet grounded luxury.
Artisanal Touches: The walnut basket-weave detailing on a custom daybed celebrates the artistry of local Texas craftsmen.
Playful Accents: Bruce Lee Webb’s whimsical cowboy art and a vintage bronze bust by Jim Thomas bring a touch of charm and personality.

This bar/lounge area is not just a space—it’s an experience. With its earthy tones, rich textures, and regional artistry, it invites you to linger and soak in its warmth and elegance.

While the bar/lounge is undeniably a standout, every room in the Modern Hacienda tells its own story. This transformation began with our clients’ dream to create a home that reflected their personalities and passions. Though they loved the architecture of their newly acquired house, they felt it needed more warmth and individuality.

Grand Entry: A stunning welcome that sets the tone for the entire home.

TV Room & Morning Room: Spaces designed for comfort and connection, layered with textures and unexpected materials.
Dining Room: Featuring a custom centerpiece dining table crafted from solid oak and travertine.
Kitchen: A harmonious blend of functional elegance, with bold materials like avocado green marble.

From the "James Bond" fireplace in the living room to the playful mix of vibrant colors, bold wallpaper, and rich fabrics, each room blends clean lines with a sense of adventurous elegance.

Behind the Scenes of the Film

Collaborating with The Luxury Home Show team to create a short tour film was an exhilarating experience. Their attention to detail and shared passion for storytelling made every moment of filming special. From capturing the sunlit plaster walls to showcasing the Gothic arch and intricate craftsmanship, the film highlights every thoughtful design element that makes Modern Hacienda so unique.

Filming this project gave me a renewed appreciation for the journey. It’s deeply fulfilling to see our homeowners’ vision come to life—woven into every corner, balanced with their Texan heritage, and enhanced by intentional design choices.
