Our Luxury Vacation Rental: Welcome To The Urbanology Cottage
If you don’t follow us on social media (first of all, you should be, hello design inspo!), then you might not know that last year, we did something completely unprecedented for our design firm, - something waaaay out of left field ….we bought a zoo!!!
Ok, maybe we didn’t do that (but it is a wholesomely underrated movie, thank you Matt Damon and ScarJo). What we did do is buy a purple-pink, outdated old cottage in a tiny Texas town called Weatherford.
To be clear, we are not in the business of flipping properties. We aren’t auditioning for a spot on a Fixer-Upper style HGTV show. We’ve built a very successful business helping clients create interiors they are obsessed with (see our curated portfolio). Which begs the question…
Why sink money into an old purple cottage nobody looked twice at? Well, we’re about to tell you, and we think you’ll be able to identify with a recurring issue we kept having when planning our vacations.

The Woes of Planning a Vacation
Think about the last time you were planning a staycation, family trip, or romantic getaway, and you pulled up the Airbnb listings for your destination. We’re pretty sure you saw the same thing we see Every. Single. Time.
It’s called depression.
Listing after listing featuring different versions of the same, sad, uninspired accommodations: that stuffy, old, rolled arm brown leather couch, mismatched bedding and a mint green accent wall. Ok, that got a little specific. But you know what we mean!
Finding an intentionally designed, thoughtfully curated and installed vacation rental property that inspires creativity and makes you feel…loved? Seen? That’s like finding a needle in a haystack. We could scroll for hours before finding something that remotely fits the bill.
We realized what a massive need there was for the thing it was we were longing for. It wasn’t just us having unfruitful Airbnb searches - our clients, our followers, our design-junkie, beauty-craving people were also coming up empty on design-forward vacation accommodations. And we set out to fill that need.
So…we created something fresh and unique that we’re positively giddy to share with you!
With the same intentionality we bring to all of our interior design projects, we have reimagined what a typical weekend getaway experience looks like! And in the process, we’ve raised the bar for the standard of all your future guest accommodations!

Introducing… the Urbanology Cottage in Weatherford, Texas! The cottage at Lee Avenue was built in the 1920’s and is the quintessential dwelling to host our flagship Airibnb property. Why an Airbnb?
Through our own travel experiences, we recognized a gap between guest accommodations and a truly inspired, stylish space worthy of our time and money. So we expanded on what we know and do best, curating moments through visionary design; designing our first rental property!
And boy have we aimed high and delivered to provide what is missing in the current market of travel!
The Urbanology Cottage is a charming, eclectic getaway with stunning visual and tangible details that invoke both mindfulness and cater to the necessity of creature comforts. The most finite details have been taken into consideration for your inspiration, relaxation, and amusement.

Why this old cottage?
To sum it up simply, history. Steeped in decades of time, whispers of the past are archived and etched in the essence of this quaint, 1922 abode. We’ve purposely and lovingly refinished the original hardwoods and kept safe the original trim in an effort to pay homage to a century’s worth of history that we’re proud to share with you.
Even our update includes nostalgic nods to the past: each bedroom is themed after fanciful characters from the childhood memories of our Principal Designer, Ginger Curtis, and she’s sharing with us all the details of those whimsical design inspirations in an upcoming blog post.
Why Weatherford, TX?
Weatherford is one of the hidden gems of North Texas, and we’re hoping it stays hidden! This quaint, historical town has been steeped in charm and is the perfect spot for a quiet escape. Gorgeous architecture of old, a walkable town square filled with artisan shops and vintage goods, not to mention amazing local restaurants and pubs. Nearby hiking trails, abundant farmer’s markets, first-Monday trade days…the list is long on what to do in Weatherford!
Our love for Weatherford has history. It started as a little girl’s (our founder’s!) annual family vacation spot, driving around downtown, stopping at the local ice cream parlor, and hiking at Mineral Wells.
Holidays here cultivated a love for Weatherford, a place that truly encourages you to take a deep breath and slow down.
